"Linton Zoo Photography Day June 19th 2010"

On June 19th we ran our 2nd photography day of the year at Linton Zoo, unlike the 1st day we wasn't blessed with beautiful sunshine but instead a typical summer's day of rain. With the weather conditions changing constantly the group had to be even more aware of there camera settings, and I have to say that all participants on the day were producing fantastic images.

"Linton Zoo Photography Day April 23rd 2010"

On April 23rd we ran our 1st photography day of the year at Linton Zoo, the day was a sell out and was a tremendous success.

It was a beautiful sunny day and I had the pleasure of tutoring a fantastic group. The results that came from the group were brilliant and it was good to see that at the end of the day all photographers were getting some amazing images and no one went home with their cameras set on auto.

Below are some examples of the images taken from one of our photographers who attended the day and a short testimonial of his thoughts about his experience with us.

What a day: "ISO, Histograms, Aperture priority, Shutter speeds, Depth of Field, confused? So was I until I went on a photography day at Linton Zoo (Cambridgeshire) with Colin Edwards. It was great to learn from someone who is so good at simplifying and explaining these areas of photography that come across as being quite complicated and confusing when reading your DSLR manual. Not only does Colin have extensive knowledge of photography and a great way of teaching, but he also has a vast amount of knowledge about the animals, you can certainly tell that wildlife and teaching budding photographers is his passion.

The day itself was fantastic, the group size was perfect Colin was able to give each of us one on one tutoring through out the whole day and if we had any problems or questions then we could just get Colin to help us. We were able to get up close to many of the animals and with the aid of Colin and the keepers managed to get some amazing photos. The entire day was packed with tips and advice to help push my photography skills forward, I would highly recommend investing in a photography day with Colin Edwards as i now have so much of a better understanding of phoptography and what my camera can really do!"C. "Gorilla Presentation"

I have just returned back from Port Lympne Wildlife Park where I was presenting Senior Gorilla keeper Ingrid Naisby with the images that will be going to America. One of the most popular images was of Ambam a 20 year old Silverback standing bipedally, he is slightly larger than the average Silverback weighing in around 500lb (36 stone) and standing 6ft tall. Unlike most gorillas Ambam will at times stand perfectly upright (bipedally), I have studied gorillas for a long time and although all gorillas and apes have the ability to do this I have never seen a fully grown silverback standing so perfectly straight.

Although Ambam is an extremely large gorilla and obviously very strong I was privileged enough to get the chance to hand feed him, I was amazed at how gentle he was as I stood in front of him giving him his vegetables and at no time whilst doing this did he show any signs of aggression or threatening behaviour towards me.

Once Ambam had been fed it was time for him and the other bachelor gorillas to have a run about in their main enclosure, this gave me time to observe the gorillas and even get a few more photos of them whilst they were out. Unlike my last visit Ambam decided he wasn’t going to pose for me again so I guess I was lucky that I managed to get my shot of him when I did as he had no intentions in giving me a second chance.

Once again I would like to thank Ingrid for making me feel so welcome and allowing me to get so close to Ambam and all the other gorillas. I am very much looking forward to my next visit in September.

The images that will be going to America are also available to purchase from our wildlife gallery.

"ImageSolutions go Global"

We are pleased to announce that we will be having some of our work exhibited in Oklahoma USA at the 2010 International Gorilla Workshop, we were contacted by Ingrid Naisby senior gorilla keeper at Port Lympne Animal Park after she had seen a photo of Ambam a batchelor Silverback in BBC Wildlife magazine. After speaking with Ingrid we have selected the images to be exhibited and I will be presenting these at Port Lympne within the next few weeks. Ingrid will then be taking the selected photos in person to Oklahoma Zoo where they will be on show and then auctioned off to raise money for the Gorilla Conservation Program. It is always nice to receive recognition and we are very proud to be involved with such a good cause.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank Ingrid and Port Lympne Animal Park.
